Classic Trader is an international marketplace for classics that has also run its own online auction since July 2024. If you auction there, you largely put the listing together yourself: the copy, at least 50 photos and a current appraisal you pay for. The buyer pays 8.5% including VAT, minimum €500 and with no stated maximum, and the auction usually runs for 12 days, after a preview phase. If you are looking for an auction where the platform takes care of the presentation, the buyer pays less or the audience consists of enthusiasts in Western Europe, there are alternatives. Below they sit side by side.

When comparing, look at three things. Who makes the listing: you, with copy, photos and an appraisal, or the platform? What does the buyer pay on top of their bid, and is it capped? And who is in the audience: a broad international marketplace audience, or enthusiasts who come for this one car?
